This work belongs to the recreation collection inspired from a historic work by a prominent Persian painter Kamal al-din Bihzad (c. 1450 – c. 1535) entitled “Alexander and the Seven Wise Men”, (An inscription in the arch of the window is dated AH 900 (1494/95)) from the manuscripts “Iskandar-nama” by Nizami. This is an outstanding work of Iranian painting with Bihzad’s special miniature compositions.
In her work, Sadeghi has been fully committed to the composition of the original work. But at first glance it can be seen that vitality and passion, which is evident in the original work, are not visible. It is similar to the case that everything has been worn and frozen over time; trees, shrubs and sky are still present, but no longer has any sign of life. The mansion has eroded, and the pale color is visible on the appearance of humans. This is in fact the difference Sadeghi attempts to express it in her work. Dark, cool and gray colors, like oxidized and rusty metals, all represent the erosion and perhaps inability of the modern human space. Sadeghi in this work professionally recreate colors in the best way. Constriction, coldness, darkness, helplessness and freezing states governing the world that the painter tries to express it, all created only by changing the colors of the original Bihzad’s work. Yet there is no change in the form of figures and trees, which had been portrayed in Bihzad original artwork.
